Why Give
The best dollar in American politics is spent closest to home.
A dollar in a presidential race is a drop in an ocean of billions. That same dollar in a school-board or district race is a wave: most down-ballot races are decided by a few hundred votes on shoestring budgets, where a modest check pays for the mailer, the signs, or the voter file that decides the outcome. When you give to FAIRPAC, you are putting a saddle and bridle in the hands of riders — the working men and women running for the offices that govern daily life — so that the free market and the free republic carry families instead of throwing them.
What your gift achieves
- Candidates found and vetted — Wake the Bear identifies principled down-ballot candidates and measures them, with evidence, against the fourteen positions.
- Race-by-race assistance delivered — district research, community-fit messaging, and independent support in the specific races where it changes the result.
- Principled majorities seated — on the school boards, councils, and districts that actually run schools, water, hospitals, budgets, and public safety.
- A bench built — today's faith-and-reason trustee is tomorrow's state legislator; every seat won down-ballot deepens the pool the country draws from.
How we answer for it
FAIRPAC intends to account for its work the way it asks officeholders to account for theirs: in the open, race by race — where money went, what it did, and what happened on election night. We will publish results honestly, including the races we lose.
Give once, or give monthly — every gift is measured against one question: did it help seat a person of faith and reason in an office that governs someone's daily life?
Questions, Answered Plainly
What people ask us first.
Is FAIRPAC a church or a religious organization?
No. FAIRPAC is a political action committee, not a church or religion. We unite Americans of different faith heritages — and people of no faith tradition — around common goals. We ask no one to change what they believe.
I'm not religious. Am I welcome here?
Yes. Our standard is a public one — good stewardship, peace and order, truth, and basic decency — and it is open to faith and conscience alike. What we care about is whether you share the goals, not where you learned them.
Is my contribution tax-deductible?
No. Contributions to FAIRPAC are not deductible as charitable contributions for federal income tax purposes, and they are subject to federal source and limit rules — see the notice at the bottom of this page.
Do the candidates you support know about FAIRPAC?
Not always — and that is by design. Wake the Bear identifies candidates who already stand for these principles, and support for candidates who have not engaged us is delivered independently: not authorized by any candidate or candidate's committee, and never coordinated with a candidate we have not formally engaged.
How do you decide who deserves support?
Against the fourteen positions above, principle by principle, with evidence — votes cast, records kept, words said in public. The results are published in the Who Stands for What register, and no candidate appears there without documented evidence.
Why small races instead of Congress or the presidency?
Because that's where the republic is actually steered, and where a modest gift actually changes outcomes. Down-ballot offices govern daily life, are decided by handfuls of votes, and build the bench the country draws from — see Why Down-Ballot.
Where does my money actually go?
To finding, vetting, and independently supporting down-ballot candidates, race by race. We intend to account for it the same way — race by race, in the open, including the races we lose. Published reporting will appear as races are entered.
